When I sang along to the story of The Little Drummer Boy with my students, my heart was humbled by the lines “I have no gift to bring…I played my drum for Him…I played my best for Him…Then He smiled at me…” I never realized how beautiful this song is until now.
As sinners we feel unworthy to stand before Christ. Like the Little Drummer Boy, we are poor because it seems as though our offerings will never be enough, nor will they ever be commensurate with God’s love for us. And yet, like the Little Drummer Boy, we can still give our hearts and everything we are to Jesus. So let the whole world hear you beat your own drums from your heart of hearts for Jesus!
